Prepping to Food Prep

Planning to prep is an important step you need to complete in the calmness of no crisis.  I use a 4 stage system

  1. Immediate Use
  2. Weekly/Monthly
  3. Long Term
  4. Emergency

Immediate Use:

These are items you use for food preparation on a daily basis.  We keep a well stocked pantry which to most people look like a preppers closet however we purchase items when on deals are available and place them in the pantry for a couple of weeks. The pantry is freely accessible and close to our kitchen and dining area. If we purchase a lot of items the extra items go into he Weekly/Monthly storage area.

Weekly/Monthly:

This is a larger storage area we use to purchase bulk items such as bathroom/cleaning products, long life foods including canned goods, house maintenance products, long life pet food, grains, rice in bulk.  This is an unlabelled area which is inconspicuous to household visitors.  During times of crisis such as the enforced lock downs across the world, it was a savior in terms of still having all our essential family items met without needing to battle the hordes of crazy people in shopping malls and supermarkets.

We do not advertise this to any of our friends. We saw the worst of people during the last few years and helped some people in dire need however my number one focus is the well being of my immediate family.

Long Term:

This is a lockable storage area for extremely long life foods and medical supplies.  It is a fireproof area with all packaging in water proof containers or packaging.

Emergency:

This is a fireproof and waterproof bags that contains basic clothing, medical supplies, documentation for insurance/financial and personal records and several encrypted USB sticks containing cryptocurrency in order to transact if banking systems are down. We hope to never have the need to use the emergency bags.
